One Month Married

Hello Loves!

We’ve been married for one month as of today, and we are so happy.

It was wonderful to stand there together, in front of all of you (in the chilly drizzle) and promise to love one another no matter what.  And it was wonderful to go inside the warm Armory and see people we cared about literally everywhere we looked!  We’re sorry we didn’t get a chance to really talk to anyone – we’re pretty sure that we didn’t even say “hi” to some of you, sorry about that.  Know that we are so glad that you were all there!

One of the things we had hoped to do that evening, but didn’t make the time for, is to give a toast to make some special thank yous.  Here it is in no particular order:

  • Thank you, Ned, for marrying us.  You pretty much came up with that entire ceremony on your own, and you did a really phenomenal job.  We loved it!
  • Thank you, Karen, for our beautiful and delicious cake!  It was perfection.
  • Thank you, Annie, for the gorgeous flowers!  I didn’t get to really take in how perfect and beautiful they were until I got home the next day and saw my bouquet.  Wow!
  • Thank you, Rachel N. and Stuart, for being our awesome Maid of Honor and Best Man.  We love you.
  • Thank you, Rachel S. for being the honorary Maid of Honor and such a tremendous help!
  • Thank you, Ashley S. for the makeup help and the hair referral!
  • Thank you, Groomsman, for decorating the Airstream.
  • Thank you, Bridesmaids, for helping get ready and set up.
  • Thank you, Jaime Haber, for playing during the ceremony.
  • Thank you, Jaime Hamlin, for helping us coordinate and for lending your elegant touch to the event.  Seriously, it was a dream of mine that you’d be a part of my wedding, and I’m glad we found a way to make that happen.
  • Thank you, Meryl, for doing your thing.  You had already done so much to help, but when I called you to ask a question about our altar you just took on the project and I just let you.  That was awesome!
  • Thank you, RTQ and Emma, for providing the amazing music.  I’d been dreaming of hearing you preform together, and it was more than we’d imagined!
  • Thank you to everyone who traveled from afar, including the following people who got on a plane to come:  Lisa & Syd (Illinois), Zach & Lisa (California), Rollie & Grandma Rita (Texas), Caroline & Kiyoshi (California), Ashley & Hal (Minnesota), Alison & James (Utah), Seth & Christine & Chloe (California), Kevin & Amy & Maggie & Lilly (California), Dana (California), Rachel N (Oregon), Betsy & Marc (Texas), Gary & Julie (Washington), Aurora (California), Brucie & Linda (Florida), and Helga & Myrthe (Holland!!)
  • Thank you to Michelle and Thomas for the tremendously beautiful pictures!
  • Thank you, Quita, Bill, Peter, Elaine, Rollie, and Sherry.

We are overwhelmed with gratitude.  Please expect effusive thank you notes at some point in the not-too-distant future.

Oh, and pictures! Do you have some? Please send them along! Also, let us know if we can share them with everyone else on the Wedding Photos page.  We love looking at them – what a fun night!

Hotels and Carpooling

We’ve sold out every hotel in the area! Us and the leaf-peepers, that is. Please send Matthew an e-mail, my last name@gmail.com, if:

  • you were unable to book a hotel room and wanted one
  • you have an extra room or extra bed and willing to share
  • you are driving home and are interested in carpooling (either offering or seeking)

One Week!

Oh hi guys.  We’re getting married in a week!

I had planned on doing a two-week post, but that slipped by and so I planed on doing a ten-day post.  That slipped by too, and so did my planned single-digits post.  So here we are.  A one week post.  Holy cow!

We have our marriage license.  I’m on vacation (Matthew’s vacation will start on Wednesday, after Jury Duty).  Matthew’s bachelor party is tonight.  My last dress fitting is Sunday evening. Folks are starting to arrive as early as Monday!

Please please: stay tuned for updates about events on Friday night and Sunday afternoon.  As well as transportation and parking.  We’ll try to send out a big email for those who are not checking this site, but pass on any info to friends or family members who are coming.

Please also let us know if you happen to have an extra hotel room – I know some people over-booked and I know other people who are currently looking.

We’re so excited to celebrate with you!

One Month!

30 days.  Four weeks from Saturday.  One month from RIGHTTHISSECOND…

We will be married!

Life is crazy and disorganized, and so there’s no making sense of the major challenge we’ve been facing: My step-dad, Bill, suffered a massive brain hemorrhage on August 24.  He’s finally out of the hospital, in rehab, and getting better every day.  I’ve been posting regularly regarding his status here (you have to create an account to access it, for privacy reasons).  We hope Bill will be able to celebrate with us at the wedding!

In the background, the wedding plans continue.  The bridesmaids have their beautiful dresses.  The groomsmen have… well, they’ve all agreed to be in the wedding, I don’t think they have any idea what to wear.  Annie, our friend and florist, and Karen, our friend and baker, and our other “vendors” have been asking lots of great questions, and the details are starting to fall into place.  Oh!  And RSVPs!  Checking the mail is one of the highlights of my day, and two-thirds of the RSVPs have been returned!

A few notes to be aware of:  The Four Points Sheraton is now a Doubletree.  If you booked a room there, please don’t be confused.  Also, check out the logistics page for our new registry at HoneyFund!

WE ARE SO EXCITED!
